Following the longest gravine in Europe, a 12 kilometer gash in the limestone rock up to 200 meters deep, the 85 km route with 2000 m of elevation gain winds through continuous ups and downs, single tracks, stunning ravines, and ancient villages.
Laterza is the city of majolica: since the 1600s, its master ceramicists have crafted work that reached the courts of the Bourbons and the Vatican, with a signature white glaze decorated in cobalt blue and yellow, a tradition still carried on today in the workshops of the old town.
The route leads you to the finish line on the golden sands of Castellaneta Marina, where the Ionian Sea closes a journey across centuries of history carved into the same rock you run through.
